Cristian Rachid Bernal Castillo

Born in 1995 in Mexico, Rachid has earned his Bachelor´s degree with a honorable mention from the music school Vida y Movimiento of the Ollin Yoliztli Cultural Center in Mexico City. After continuing his study at the advanced course in Vienna, he is currently pursuing a Performer's Diploma at Southern Methodist Universtity with Maestro Joaquín Achúcarro.


Rachid has given solo recitals and chamber recitals since his early age at various venues in Mexico, Spain, Austria and United States, including Krannert center for the performing Arts at the Illinois University in Urbana-Champaign, and Mountain View Performance hall in Dallas(Texas). He has also performed at numbers of national and international festivals including Young Artist World Piano Festival in Minnesota, Smith Memorial hall. Since his debut as a soloist with Queretaro Philharmonic Orchestra, Rachid has performed with numbers of orchestras including Irving Symphony in Texas, México City Philharmonic, National Symphony Orchestra, Xalapa Symphony, Aguascalientes, and Symphony Orchestra.


Rachid is a winner of the concerto competition "Young Artist World Piano Festival" in Minnesota; third prize of the VIII edition of the National Piano Competition "Angélica Morales" Yamaha México City; second prize of the IX International Piano Biennial "Classical Formal Music" in the City of Mexicali, Baja California; Special Award at the 68th Wideman international piano competition and first prize of the IX edition of the National Piano Competition “Angelica Morales” Yamaha México. In February of 2014, Bernal recorded the second movement of Rachmaninoff´s Piano Concerto No. 2 for the soundtrack of the film “A la Mala”, sponsored by Videocine Distribution.


His principal teachers include Manuel Pérez Dávila (México), Camelia Goila (Romania), Andrés Acosta (México) and Hafes Babashahi (Austria). He has also participated in masterclasses with Jorge Federico Osorio, Anatoly Zatín, Joseph Olechowsky, Alessio Bax and Ian Hobson.
